Description
Shaler Area Middle School creates a structured and supportive learning community where students experience both consistency and choice. A 10 period schedule pairs daily core instruction with WIN, What I Need, periods that provide data driven intervention or enrichment for each learner. Strong interdisciplinary teams help teachers collaborate, respond to student needs, and design connected learning experiences. Advisory opportunities and SAMS Time give students space to build relationships, explore shared interests, and feel known within a smaller community. Beyond the classroom, students engage in podcasting, eSports, music ensembles, visual arts, the Crocus Project, and student led media initiatives that strengthen voice and authentic learning. Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, centered on being Safe, Respectful, and Ready, helps create a welcoming climate.
