Description

Plumosa School of the Arts K8 offers a distinctive middle grades experience where the arts are the foundation for learning. As a newly expanded K8 campus, Plumosa blends academic rigor with creative expression through its Visual, Performing, and Communication Arts magnet program. Students in grades 6 through 8 choose Fine Arts majors such as dance, visual arts, band, strings, or TV production, with extended blocks that allow for deep exploration and performance based learning. Art Houses create smaller communities that build identity and belonging throughout the middle school years. Academic support follows a Whatever It Takes model, including double dose interventions that provide help without sacrificing the arts pathway. The Dual Language Spanish Magnet program, inclusive co teaching, Fall in Love with Plumosa showcase, Battle of the Books, critique, and project based learning deepen student voice and reflection. Plumosa is a creative and caring school where imagination and excellence grow together.
