Hawthorne Middle School offers a strong academic core with clear pathways that help students build college and career readiness skills every day. Students can apply for AVID in seventh and eighth grade to strengthen Writing Inquiry Collaboration Organization and Reading while building leadership and relational capacity. The school is designated as a Business Academy and uses Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship curriculum so students learn career clusters academic planning personal finance economics and entrepreneurship through courses like Exploring Careers and Business Communications. A period 1 course such as TAS College Readiness or AVID includes IXL practice and Second Step social emotional learning with supports guided by CAASPP and STAR Reading data.
