Goleta Valley Junior High School serves grades 7 and 8 with a strong academic core and a wide range of electives that help students discover talents and build skills for high school. Students can strengthen study habits through AVID and grow leadership through ASB, Leadership classes, and advisory structures like Mariner 101. Elective options highlight creativity and hands on learning, including Theatre Arts with singing, acting, dance, and technical theatre, Instrumental Music, Visual Arts, and semester courses like Exploring Industrial Tech with drafting, drawings, and introductory wood projects, with Health as an alternate semester option. World Language courses expand communication and cultural understanding, and students can extend learning through the library, counseling support, National Junior Honor Society, and PEAC After School Learning Centers.
