Description
West Pine Middle School pairs a long Schools to Watch legacy with a structured day that builds both strong academics and student belonging. Students learn in four fifty eight minute core blocks for language arts, math, science, and social studies, plus two forty five minute encore blocks that include CTE, art, band, orchestra, vocal and theater arts, and PE. A daily ROAR flex period meets four times a week to provide targeted intervention or enrichment, using iReady, NC Check Ins, and common assessments to place students and adjust groups while keeping supports responsive. Advanced pathways include Compacted Math in grades 6 and 7, Math 1 and World History for qualifying eighth graders, and rich applied learning like Wildcat Reality Check, a career and budgeting simulation. PBIS reinforces ROAR expectations, Respect, Own It, Attitude, Responsibility, through points, celebrations, and an online incentive store, supported by MTSS structures and counselor services. Clubs, academic teams, fine arts, and leadership opportunities help students feel known and celebrated each day. Families can expect a caring culture that keeps learning rigorous, organized, and joyful.
