Description
La Paz Intermediate School serves 7th and 8th graders with a rotating six period schedule, common prep time for teacher collaboration, and a daily 30 minute tutorial block that blends intervention, enrichment, and independent learning with clear accountability through Flextime check ins and the ABCOS recognition system. Students experience strong core instruction in English language arts, mathematics, science, history, and physical education, with NGSS aligned science taught through the Modern Classroom model and accelerated math options reaching Geometry. Targeted supports include Newcomers, Emerging Support, Intensive Reading and Language Arts, collaborative core classes for Students with Disabilities, Study Skills, intervention classes for students with multiple Ds or Fs, and a Math Essentials course built around manipulatives and authentic problem solving. Campus culture is powered by WEB Leaders, ASB, AVID with Career Day and PSAT8, Mindful Monday, Talk Together Tuesday, PBIS rewards, restorative circles, and inclusion through Unified Sports. It feels intentional, energetic, and deeply student centered.
