Description

Kastner Intermediate School offers a balanced 7th and 8th grade program built around academic block, math, science, physical education, and a wide menu of yearlong electives, with a schedule that blends single period days and flexible block days plus an extended Tuesday advisory. Students get targeted support through T Bird time at the end of Wednesday and Thursday block days, where teachers run standards based intervention, test retakes, study lab, or enrichment based on PLC decisions, along with before and after school tutorials and a study lab that supports eligibility for activities. School life is rich with three seasons of sports, beginning through advanced band, orchestra, drama, and choir, plus more than 15 clubs and a service focused leadership elective. English learners receive leveled ELD with strong push in support and celebration of reclassification, while specialized programs support functional life skills, autism, and emotional disturbance. Equity and belonging are strengthened through SOAR Impact, peer counselors, PASA student voice, and the Collaborative Mentoring art elective that pairs general education mentors with students in functional life skills. It is a place where structure, relationships, and opportunity help students grow with confidence.
