Bernice Harrell Chipman Jr. High builds a focused junior high experience with six daily periods led by content area teachers plus a daily advisory block for social emotional learning independent reading and academic counseling. Students can accelerate through GATE and honors classes along with Accelerated Math 7 and Algebra while also choosing from a standout electives program that includes Project Lead the Way courses such as Green Architecture Medical Detectives Automation and Robotics Design and Modeling Flight and Space and Introduction to Engineering plus band orchestra choir show choir and art. A strong culture of literacy sets a goal of 16 books a year supported by advisory reading time and incentives and targeted reading intervention using STAR and BAS in small groups. The campus supports belonging through ASB spirit events clubs competitive robotics and MTSS with restorative practices including a restorative classroom and Second Step lessons.
