Description

Powhatan Middle School delivers a balanced middle grades experience with a schedule that blends All Class Days and 90 minute Block Days plus a daily Academic and Community Connection Time ACCT focused on organization grade checks independent reading academic coaching and clubs. Students take year long core classes in English math science and social studies with honors integrated options and a year long health and physical education course plus two electives. Electives expand interests through band chorus orchestra art computer technology STEM world cultures agriscience coding digital design Medical Detectives yearbook and high school credit pathways including Algebra 1 World History Earth Science French and Spanish. Academic support is built into ACCT with required English intervention four days a week and math intervention three days a week supported by common unit and quarterly assessments and biweekly PLC work. Students connect through leadership clubs Lunch Buddies mentoring spirit weeks and signature traditions like the GOAT Challenge and pep parade. Families will appreciate a school that blends high expectations with community care and real opportunities to grow.
