Description
Silverado Middle School serves 6th through 8th graders with a schedule designed for both strong core instruction and daily intervention. Students attend six academic periods plus a 30 minute Collaborative Use Block called CUB Tuesday through Friday, while Mondays are shortened so grade level teams can meet for PLC data cycles and plan reteach and enrichment. Core classes include language arts, math, science, social studies, and physical education, paired with exploratory options that stand out for variety and rigor, including Farm to Fork, Video Production, Tech Shop, World Cultures, Spanish, Leadership, Band, WEB, and a full Project Lead The Way sequence such as Design and Modeling, Computer Science, Automation and Robotics, Medical Detectives, Flight and Space, and App Creator. Students stay connected through clubs, sports, Kindness Week, Red Ribbon Week, Teacher Assistant leadership roles, and positive recognition like Preferrals and Bear Bucks that can be used in the student store or earned for time in the Bears Den. English learners are supported through Newcomer classes, GLAD trained instruction, ELAC, and targeted support for Long Term English Learners, while a co teaching model and on campus SDC program strengthen inclusion for students with disabilities. It is a place where academic growth, hands on learning, and student belonging move forward together.
