Description
Paramount Park Middle School is a Schools to Watch campus focused on academic growth, creative pathways, and a strong culture of student leadership. A block schedule with 84 minute classes gives students time for deep learning in ELA, mathematics, integrated science, social studies, and PE, while ensuring every student can also enroll in at least one elective. Students can build skills and confidence through AVID, Student Council, dance, art, band, orchestra, chorus, and guitar, plus Spanish and career connected options like College and Career Readiness and Academic Leadership. Targeted support is built into the schedule through flexible intervention courses guided by iReady data, including ELA phonics, vocabulary and comprehension, math intervention, and ELD, with intervention teachers collaborating closely with core teams. Students also explore hands on STEM through Project Lead the Way courses like App Creators, Green Architecture, Design and Modeling, and Automation and Robotics. A signature highlight is the Youth Cinema Project multimedia course, where students develop films and submit work to the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival. Families can expect a school that blends high expectations with meaningful opportunities for every learner.
