Description
Reginald M Benton Middle School is a Visual and Performing Arts magnet where students learn on a semester based 4X4 block schedule with 84 minute classes and three yearlong electives alongside language arts, mathematics, science, social science, and physical education. Students choose from more than 30 electives from beginning through advanced levels, including dance, drama, choir, band, media arts, photography, and visual arts, with performances and exhibits that build toward the Kaleidoscope VAPA Festival. Teachers collaborate in Professional Learning Communities, use common formative assessments, and apply Kagan Cooperative Learning strategies to strengthen academic discourse. Supports include tutoring during break, lunch, or after school, double blocked math in grades 7 and 8, designated ELD within science, and services through RSP and the ASPIRE program. A Wellness Center and monthly homeroom mentoring help students feel grounded and connected. Families can count on a creative campus where growth is noticed and celebrated.
