Description
West Alexander Middle School sustains a strong Schools to Watch legacy through a clear mission and a culture that feels like family while still pushing students to high expectations. Students learn in seventy five minute core blocks for mathematics, science, and English language arts with social studies integrated, plus two forty five minute exploratory blocks that rotate through band, chorus, STEM, art, health, PE, weight training, pottery, and computer technology. A daily Success Block builds leadership, organization, SEL, and academic support, while a thirty minute PAWS block rotates every three weeks to deliver targeted enrichment, remediation, and acceleration using MTSS data. Student voice is visible through an application based Student Ambassador program with roles like Safety Team, Flag Team, Grounds Team, and cross categorical mentors, plus clubs such as culinary arts, carpentry, cosmetology, dance, chess, livestock, and movie making. PBIS anchors expectations through BARK and ClassDojo points, and staff collaborate in weekly PLCs using Class of data documents to plan supports for students, especially those with disabilities. Families can expect a steady, caring team that keeps students challenged, supported, and proud to be Bulldogs.
