Description

Leona Jackson School builds confident learners through an eight period rotating block schedule that protects time for intervention and electives. Students study language arts math history social science science and physical education with options for Accelerated Math 7 Algebra 8 and an 80 minute language arts or math intervention block plus Designated English Language Development. AVID is a schoolwide anchor with WICOR routines including focused note taking critical reading and Socratic Seminar that strengthen academic discourse. Electives expand identity and interests through Project Lead the Way STEM art drama dance band orchestra multimedia computer applications computer design athletics and Leadership Academy for student council yearbook and community building. Support systems include MTSS restorative practices CHAMPS procedures iReady MyTutor Think Together after school and a Wellness Center. Families can expect a steady culture of recognition and care.
