Description
River Bend Middle School combines strong academics with a schedule that gives students time to learn, connect, and receive targeted support. Students learn on an A B block schedule with four 80 minute blocks and a daily 25 minute advisory and intervention period that includes Second Step lessons, PBIS lessons, Sources of Strength, and Common Sense Media. Course options are expansive, with honors English, history, and civics, as well as Algebra, Geometry, and world languages including French, German, and Spanish for Fluent Speakers. Students can explore electives such as Computer Science, Robotic Design, Communications, and Exploratory Dramatics, along with band, chorus, guitar, and orchestra. Academic supports include VALLSS reading plans, MAP driven goal setting, and Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions delivered three days a week during the intervention block. Students connect through clubs such as Project LIT, Odyssey of the Mind, Science Olympiad, Dungeons and Dragons, and affinity groups, plus intramurals and after school tutoring through programs like FORT.
